BC PNP Priority Sectors & Occupations in 2025

How British Columbia Attracts Skilled Workers

How StartCan Helps You Succeed

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is B.C.’s primary economic immigration pathway, designed to solve labour shortages and support economic growth across the province. Through targeted invitations and sector-specific immigration streams, the BC PNP prioritizes workers who create high economic impact and fill critical gaps in B.C.’s workforce.

Whether you are a skilled worker, healthcare professional, tradesperson, or tech expert, understanding BC PNP priority sectors and eligible occupations is the key to building a successful immigration strategy.

What Is the BC PNP?

The BC PNP helps the province:

  • Attract and retain skilled workers

  • Support regional and rural communities

  • Strengthen essential service sectors

  • Promote long-term economic development

It does this through Skills Immigration, Entrepreneur Immigration, Health Authority, and Regional programs, with many candidates receiving targeted Invitations to Apply (ITAs) based on their occupation.

BC PNP Priority Sectors

The BC PNP currently prioritizes workers in five high-demand sectors:

  • Childcare

  • Construction

  • Healthcare

  • Technology

  • Veterinary Care

These sectors face chronic labour shortages across British Columbia and benefit from frequent targeted draws.

Supporting Regional Communities

The BC PNP works closely with smaller and rural communities through the Entrepreneur Immigration ;  Regional Stream, allowing communities to nominate entrepreneurs who will establish businesses that support local needs.

Through Skills Immigration, B.C. employers outside Metro Vancouver can retain international workers who want to settle permanently in regional areas.

This strategy ensures that economic growth is spread across communities such as:
Kamloops, Kelowna, Penticton, Prince George, Terrace, Vernon, Nanaimo, Campbell River, Port Alberni, and many more.
